The Gospel: The good news of salvation through Jesus Christ

The apostle Paul defines the gospel as this:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

¹Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. ²It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

³I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. ⁴He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.

Jesus Christ was crucified, he was buried, and he rose again on the third day. He defeated death and paid in full for the sins of all mankind.

That is the gospel. That is the good news!

How do you respond to the Gospel?

It is ABC simple. It is known as the ABC’s of Salvation.

A - Admit you're a sinner

Admit that you have fallen short of God’s perfect standard of righteousness.

“There is no one righteous, not even one;” – Romans 3:10

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” – Romans 3:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

Jesus came and paid the death penalty instead of us.

B - Believe in your heart Jesus is Lord

If you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord, the King of all creation. You will be saved.

^“9If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. ¹⁰For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” – Romans 10:9-10

C - Call upon His name

If you call upon the name of the Lord, or confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” – Romans 10:13

The gospel is that simple!

If you have never called on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I implore you today, do not put this off. The time is now. Say this prayer and mean it in your heart:

Prayer for Salvation: Lord in heaven, I thank you so much. Thank you for telling us in your word how we can be saved. Heavenly father, forgive me for my sins. I repent of them. Please will you cleanse me from all the sin in my life. Lord Jesus, I confess you are Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised you from the dead. I accept you as Lord over my life. Please come into my heart through the power of the holy spirit. May your will be done in my life, for your glory, I surrender all to you. In your mighty name I pray. Amen
